The Japanese aggression has been continuing and my husband was killed. My husband left home to visit our plantation yesterday but did not return. When I woke up this morning, he wasn’t there and I knew that he was killed by the Japanese. But I tried to give myself some hope that he was still alive and headed to our plantation. When I got there, my hope was crushed.. I found my husband all covered up in blood laying on the floor. It was not difficult to find him since the smell of his blood was so acrid. When he left home yesterday, I told him that he shouldn’t go since the Japanese forces are dangerous and they are armed with weapons. He told me that he needed to go or our family back in France and we would have starve to death. I had no choice but to let him go but I regret it so much.. Those evil Japanese.. Why do they have to kill my poor innocent husband! What did he do wrong? Why did they need to kill him.. Are the resources that important? More important than our happiness and my life? By killing my husband, they put our whole family in misery.
Along with finding by husband dead, I found almost half of my plantation destroyed by the invading Japanese forces. Moreover, all of the rubber that we preserved was gone.. They took all of our supplies.. I don’t know what to do anymore.. I don’t think I have much hope of keeping the plantation since the British and other western powers joined the oil embargo. I had a British friend who was living in Singapore named Melissa Huxley. I continued to write to her about my life since both of us are living in East Asia but after the British joined the oil embargo, I did not write to her. After the British joined the United States on the oil embargo, the Japan lost more resources and became more aggressive to gain territory in Indochina. The Japanese Co-Prosperity sphere is spreading all over Asia.. Who will stop them and what will happen to my plantation.. What happened to the world peace that everyone was concerned about? I see another global war starting in the world..
Dear Diary,
The Japanese aggression has been continuing and my husband was killed. My husband left home to visit our plantation yesterday but did not return. When I woke up this morning, he wasn’t there and I knew that he was killed by the Japanese. But I tried to give myself some hope that he was still alive and headed to our plantation. Why do they have to kill my poor innocent husband! What did he do wrong? Why did they need to kill him.. Are the resources that important? More important than our happiness and my life?
